RED MASON BEES

The annual emergence of red mason bees in my garden is one of my favourite signs of spring. After spending the winter inside their nest boxes, they emerge into the sunshine and the cycle begins again. From the males jostling for position to the females collecting pollen and mud for their nests, these fascinating little bees provide endless oppurtunities to observe their lives at close quarters.
