Lifeforms Art review
This Christmas rather than heading out to the crowded high street and buying extravagant presents for your loved ones why not support your local independent business, crafter or artist instead?
This #indieweek I’ll be promoting some of these creatives and their products to give you a little Christmas inspiration.
If you are looking for a unique, beautiful and ethical gift this year, look no further than Lifeforms Art!
Lifeforms art was founded by Ian and Ben from Ceredigion, Wales, with the support of their family. Through their work the team hope to spread awareness around various conservation issues including plastic pollution.
Lifeforms celebrates the natural world and its creatures via a range of beautiful, intricately detailed original drawings and eco-friendly gifts from t-shirts to notebooks, greetings cards and gift boxes.
T-shirts are made from ethically sourced, 100% organic cotton for a soft, comfortable feel. Even better, Lifeforms have just released a range of children’s t-shirts so the whole family can wear their conservation message with pride!
Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get my hands on one of their T-shirts. Being a particularly tiny person even the smallest size available (info) would have swamped me which is a great shame. However if they do stock smaller sizes in future, I wouldn’t hesitate to add a couple of these tees to my wardrobe!
Some items I was able to get my hands on include this superb Minke Whale art print which is now waiting to be framed and hung in my bedroom.
It is easy to see just how much time and effort has gone into the original artwork with it’s lovingly drawn lines and a fabulous attention to detail. Prints are printed on A4 premium 350gsm recyled paper with a smooth matte finish.
If you like to create a little art of your own, Lifeforms Art also stocks a wide range of handy recycled notebooks and sketchbooks in A5 and A6 sizes with premium quaility plain paper inside.
As a rather charming touch, all notebooks have a fascinating blurb about their featured animal on the rear. I’m not quite sure what I will use this for as yet, they are so lovely they may join my collection of other notebooks which are considered too nice to actually use!
As well as living creatures from mighty whales to tiny lesser known invertebrates, Lifeforms Art also showcases some now sadly extinct creatures including the Great Auk which is a particular favourite of mine.
Greetings cards are huge source of single use plastic around the world, and so it’s great to see that Lifeforms have ditched the plastic completely, instead choosing to simply tie their card sets together with string.
Cards are printed on A6 FSC ® certified paper and printed locally, right here in Ceredigion. Each set comes with several individual designs and really capture the personality and wonder of each animal they feature.
Each card comes with it’s own recycled brown paper envelope ready to send on to your loved ones. Being completely blank inside these cards are perfect for you to add your own personalised message inside, making them suitable for any occasion.
Delivery from Lifeforms Art is very reasonably priced and very efficient, my order arriving in less than 48 hours. Products are shipped with minimal yet protective packaging to reduce waste.
They also donate 10% of every sale to various conservation causes!
